Professional Care Workers’ Week 2023!

Professional Care Worker's week is a celebration of care workers and the essential work they do. Care is a highly skilled profession, but unfortunately care workers do not get the advantages of being seen as professionals. The fragmented system of adult social care means that care work is more often associated with low pay, inconsistent training, agency workers and high turnover. The current workforce crisis, with vacancies at 165,000 on any given day, means we desperately need this to change. Professionalisation means recognising the diverse skillset that people bring to the role and the amount of responsibility they take on. It’s about more than a qualification or certificate – it should also come with appropriate remuneration above the Real Living Wage, ample opportunities to develop and progress, easy movement between providers and importantly, recognition of their immense value to society. Professional Care Workers’ Week is an opportunity to raise the profile of care workers in the UK and showcase the fantastic work they do, while providing opportunities for learning and sharing best practice.

The Care Workers’ Charity: Mission, Vision & Values

The Care Workers’ Charity (CWC) was founded in 2009 with the objective of supporting current and former care workers with one-off crisis grants. The Care Worker's Charity also offers support with Carer's Mental Wellbeing and Health Support, if this is something you will find useful or would like to find out more please click here.

Solo Support Services would like to take this opportunity to celebrate and pay tribute to the work of Care and Support Workers who don’t often get the recognition they truly deserve. Solo's front line workforce, as well as employees of our Direct Payment clients, have always demonstrated such commitment to their roles as well as compassion and selflessness in their continued hard work. On behalf of our clients, Directors and head office staff, thank you so much for your dedication and continued efforts to provide a continued high standard of support.

Just a reminder: if you would like to nominate an employee or colleague for Star of The Month where they will have a chance to win a £25 voucher please send your nominations to office@solosupportservices.co.uk
