Mental Health Awareness Week 2026

Action is the theme for this year's Mental Health Awareness Week.

Awareness is vital, but taking action is when we make real change. Here's how to take action by making practical steps to promote positive mental health for you or those around you:

Action for you

We all lead busy lives, and this can feel overwhelming and lead to mental ill health. By allocating time for yourself, to exercise, enjoy a hobby or activity, or spending time with friends or family allows you to step off the hamster wheel of life and give yourself headspace. This time, no matter how briet, can make a huge positive impact on your mental health.

Actions for others

Taking the time to check in on those around you can mean so much to others. By showing you care, giving people the time and space to open up or discuss any worries or problems or to know you are there for them, can make such a positive impact on the mental health of those you care about.

Talking about mental health, either yours or that of others, can be daunting. Talk to one of our Mental Health First Aiders if you have any concerns about yourself, or how to support someone close to you.
