Happy Pride Month! ✨🌈

Pride month takes place every June to celebrate and commemorate the LGBTQ+ community. It is a time dedicated to promote equal rights for all, as well as increasing LGBTQ+ visibility. It is important to recognise the oppression the LGBTQ+ community have faced and the issues still prevalent today. The pride movement first began following the Stonewall riots in 1969 and since its first inception has provided a time to celebrate everyone’s authentic self.

How can we celebrate?

1. Raise awareness and take time to educate yourself.

2. Listen to and share lived-experiences from members of the LGBTQ+ community.

3. Challenge any discriminatory behaviour you witness.

4. Attend a Pride event in your local area e.g., a parade, marches, workshops
