Cold Weather Warning, 8th-9th January 2026

Yellow and amber weather warnings are in place across parts of the UK for the 8th and 9th of January, with forecasts indicating snow, ice, strong winds, and very low temperatures in some areas. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has also extended its amber cold health alerts across England until midday on Sunday, 11th of January.

These conditions can increase risks for people who receive care at home and their Personal Assistants. As such, we encourage our clients, their families, and employees to:

  • Follow Contingency and Environmental Care Plans and contact their CRM if there are any issues.

  • Keep warm indoors by heating living areas regularly and wearing warm layers.

  • Stock up on essentials such as food, medication, and warm bedding in case travel is disrupted.

  • Limit travel and avoid unnecessary trips during icy or snowy conditions.

More information on the weather warnings and cold health alerts can be found on the Met Office website.
