14th - 20th June - Nutrition and Hydration Week

This week is Nutrition and Hydration week within health and social care. The purpose of this week is to bring people together to create energy, focus and fun in order to highlight and educate people on the value of food and drink in maintaining health and well-being in health and social care.

One of the most common issues within health and social care is urinary tract infections (UTI’s). Although there are many causes for UTI’s, dehydration is one of the common factors for clients within health and social care settings. Water makes up two thirds of our body and although there is a primary focus on drinking enough throughout the day we can also provide our bodies fluids through the food we eat in order to maintain a healthy balance.

Urine charts are commonly used within health and social care and are easily accessible in many versions across the internet or via our Client Relation Managers. Our urine can also provide key information about our health as per an example chart below.

**Do always check with your GP if you are worried about any health concerns

Over the course of the week Solo head office and our clients and teams will be joining in with highlighting the importance of nutrition and hydration and already there has been some fantastic pictures and stories shared with our Client Relations Managers, in which our Infection Control Lead will be sharing with us all in due course.

In the meantime, if you would like to get involved there is still time, today’s theme is Afternoon Tea, followed by Thirsty Thursday, Fruity Friday, Smoothie Saturday and Sundae Sunday.
