Nailsea, South West
An opportunity has arisen to support three young adults in their own home. They would like to build a team of support around them which includes a full time support worker. Each young adult requires their own support with health or social care tasks, but you will be required to learn about all three and be able to support all of them but only working in their house.
They are all very keen to get the best out of everyday life. Amongst other things they enjoy spending time with their friends and family, looking after their purpose-built house, being active and listening to music or watching TV. However the reality is that they need the support of skilled individuals, who pride themselves on high standards of support, in order to live their life and to do the things they love. It is important that they have fun and stay fit. It is also important that they spend time with people who understand their ways in which they view the world and communicate and ways in which everyday life can worry and cause them anxiety. Without the support of a genuinely caring, trustworthy and committed team of individuals they will not be able to achieve this. They are looking for personal assistants, key workers and a team leader to join an existing support team, which has high expectations and focuses on excellent standards.
The right individuals will have a natural caring nature and be able to provide sensitive understanding of their needs. They all enjoy a varied life, so flexibility is essential: being able to fit around their plans for the day even if these plans may change at short notice. Most importantly they want to enjoy a life that is as full of the 'ordinary' as possible and want people in their life who both appreciate this and can work with this in their day to day support for them. They are looking for a level headed, calm individual who are adaptable and are able to think on their feet. They will be responsible for the energy levels that they bring in their home. Simply, they will have to be genuinely interested in all aspects their life and be enthusiastic about ensuring that their life is fun and interesting. Good communication with them and their family is also very important. You must be fluent in written and spoken English.
A range of training opportunities will be available, particularly highly personalised training in order that excellent person-centred support can be provided. The successful individual will preferably be drivers with a full, clean UK driving licence. Individuals must be female, due to the personal nature of the role. Public Holidays will be paid at time and a half.
Support Worker- full time role (pay rate £10.50 per hour).
