We are currently recruiting for Personal Assistants who are positive, caring and reliable people to join our great team of staff supporting a 64-year-old woman with complex health needs. The role will suit those who consider themselves active and able, you will help to support her to continue living her life independently within her own home and to enjoy the freedom of her own daily wants and needs. She enjoys going into her local community, such as to visit the local shops, therefore you should feel confident supporting her to do this following training. She also enjoys sitting in her garden on sunny days and loves shopping online, so it would be helpful if you are computer literate to support her with this. 

We are looking to recruit a Personal Assistant who can support with day-to-day living, including supporting with all aspects of personal care, clinical tasks, mental and emotional wellbeing, and accessing the community. You must also be able to develop a high level of professionalism, ensuring to promote dignity, privacy, independence at all times, whilst being respectful of the home environment. The successful candidates should have excellent communication skills, and ideally have experience working with someone with complex communication needs. You will have a calm nature, and be able to work under pressure. Experience working with individuals with mental health conditions would be beneficial. 

We have a variety of hours that require cover from around 15 – 40 hours per week, including day and evening hours. Please state in your application how many hours you would be available to work per week. You will also be required to cover additional shifts on an ad-hoc basis, in order to cover for holidays and sickness. All training and shadow shifts will be paid at £9 per hour, once you are fully trained and competent this will increase to £10.50 per hour. It is also expected that there will be an opportunity for the hourly rate to increase to £12 per hour, once you have gained the appropriate experience. Candidates must be female due to the nature of the role (Exemption is claimed under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9").
