Preston, North West
I am a professional, independent person living in my own bungalow with my Border Terrier, Buddy. Following a long period of illness and an operation on my hip, I am keen to get back to archery, as a member of Pendle and Salmesbury Archers, and working at a local disabled persons organisation. I enjoy going to the cinema, concerts, and binge-watching Netflix and Prime- box sets.
I have a spinal cord injury from a motorbike accident many years ago and now use a power chair for mobility, a sports chair for archery, and I drive a wheelchair accessible van. I am looking for a Personal Assistant to work within my existing team of excellent carers. The role will involve all aspects of independent living, including personal care, healthcare tasks, medication, supporting me away from the home, and domestic duties around the house.
The ideal candidate needs to be able to work in an empowering way, and understand the need for confidentiality. Experience of spinal cord injury would be an advantage, but not necessary as full training will be given, with ongoing support from the other PAs. A training program will be given bespoke to my requirements to ensure you are trained to the highest standards.
Each shift will start at 7.30pm, and finish the next day at 7.30pm (including a sleeping night). Initially, the hours of support I am looking for are 7 shifts within a 4-week period. You should be willing to cover for holidays and sickness. The rates of pay are £10.00 per hour (15 hours daytime) weekdays and £10.50 per hour weekend days and £9.00 per hour sleeping nights (9 hours night time).
Working as part of the Solo Support Services organization will also give you access to a supportive company who promote person centred practice. Please visit our website for further information: http://www.solosupportservices.co.uk/home/
