ABOUT THE ROLE

You will be supporting a young man who lives at home with his mother and has several complex medical conditions. He has left sided impaired vision and uses a cane when in the community. He is a warm and engaging young man who thrives on routine, reassurance and structured activity. He experiences sensory overload and emotional distress at times and requires calm, consistent and confident support to help him stay regulated and safe. The role will include supporting him at home and out in his local community. He will need support with personal care, meal preparation and medication administration. You will need to take direction from his mother, as well as professionals involved in his care.

ABOUT YOU

You will be an experienced care worker with a wealth of experience supporting clients in their own homes and the community both individually and as part of a team. Strong understanding of medication management is essential, along with extensive experience of supporting individuals with sensory processing disorder and autism. You will need to be a fit and active character who enjoys the outdoors and has experience of supporting individuals to access a wide variety of community activities such as swimming, music and community outings. You will need to have a fun, flexible and adventurous spirt to help our client build upon his independence, supporting him to live as safe, structured and meaningful life. Excellent communication skills are essential, along with proven experience of working with clients a complex health diagnosis, autism and sensory processing difficulties.

This is a full-time, long-term position requiring consistency, emotional maturity and commitment. Reliability is essential. We are looking for someone who understands the responsibility of supporting a vulnerable young person in a 1-1 capacity and can work as part of a small, trusted team.

HOURS

We are looking to recruit 3 Support Workers to join the team, the hours will be split between the team:

Hours to be worked in a 1:1 ratio with the client:

Monday: 10am–5pm

Tuesday: 10am–5pm

Wednesday: 12:30pm–5pm

Friday: 10am–5pm

Hours to be worked in a 2:1:

Monday: 11am–5pm

Tuesday: 11am–4pm

Wednesday: 12:30pm–5pm

Friday: 11am–5pm

The hours will be part time, with an opportunity to be increased over time.
