I am a young man living in my own home. I am supported by a team of dedicated support workers. Due to my mental health, along with Down Syndrome and Autism I require 24/7 support to help me to manage my life, my health and my home. I am very active, enjoying going to the gym, gaming, playing cricket, attending social activities and supporting my football teams Reading FC and Manchester United. I work on Mondays and Thursdays at the community furniture project. My family are very close to me and are involved in my day to day care.
I am looking for a bank support worker, to join my additional team. Essentially, individuals must have experience within Mental Health/Learning Disabilities, complex needs and challenging behaviour.
You need to be patient, organised and be able to understand me, as well as sharing my great sense of humour whilst knowing how to support me if things become difficult or I became agitated. I need to be encouraged and praised to feel valued in what I do in my life as this keeps me well. I like routine in my life as this helps me to plan my days and achieve what I want from my life. A willingness to take an interest in my hobbies is also essential. You need to respect my family’s decisions and be able to take the lead from them. You need to have your own car and be able to drive me to my activities.
The position will include day hours, sleep night hours, weekend support and bank holiday support. Full training will be provided. The rate of pay is £11/hour during the day and £60 for a sleep night. Expenses for fuel will be paid.
5.6 weeks holiday is awarded per year as standard (pro rata for part time positions). Employees are also able to join the Company Pension scheme after 3 months’ service, subject to the rules of the scheme, as well as our Cash Back Health Plan after completion of a successful probation period.
