I am a young gentleman and I live at home with my mum and dad. I have severe learning disabilities; a tracheostomy, cerebral palsy and I am registered blind and partially deaf. My needs are clinical therefore I would ideally like people with a good knowledge of health and social care, but full training will be provided. I enjoy going out for walks in my wheelchair with my support workers. I am immobile therefore need full support with getting up and being placed in my wheelchair.
I have one cat called squeaky who enjoys sitting in my room with me. I enjoy all kinds of music and sensory activities. Due to being nonverbal I do like touch and vibrations. I love a good foot and hand massage!
The ideal support worker for me would need to have some banter and enjoys being sociable with people. I would need them to be flexible at short notice as I cannot be left on my own. The position would involve working days from 8.30am-16.30pm and waking nights from 8.30pm-7.30am. My mum and dad also have a weekend of once a month and in this time, I have 24hour care provide. The hours available are 16hrs per week and one 12-hour night shift a month on top of the 16 hours.
The rate of pay is £9.50 per hour for days and £11 per hour for waking nights.
5.6 weeks holiday is awarded per year as standard (pro rata for part time positions). Employees are also able to join the Company Pension scheme after 3 months’ service, subject to the rules of the scheme, as well as our Cash Back Health Plan after completion of a successful probation period.
